Brenda Broadnax, LPC

Brenda Broadnax is a Licensed Professional Counselor with over ten years of experience providing mental health services to adults, children, adolescents and their families. She has worked in a wide range of therapeutic settings including: Intensive in-home, Therapeutic day treatment Counselor, Community case managements for consumers diagnosed with mental health diagnosis, BTS program for kids on the spectrum, Domestic Violence Counselor, Homeless Shelter and Safe housing for women and their children. She currently works as a clinician with adolescents in a residential setting who have been diagnosed with a number of behavioral and mental health diagnoses and some who have been charged with sex offenses. She has experience working with clients affected by depression, ADHD, mood disorders, anxiety, substance use, sexually reactive behaviors, sexually offending behaviors. trauma, ASD, bipolar, borderline personality, ODD, relationship challenges, individual, group and family work.

Brenda’s approach to therapy is client centered: clients are the experts in their lives and determine the direction and depth of therapy. Through a strengths-based and solutions-focused lens, she draw on multiple treatment modalities to guide clients in identifying strengths and developing treatment plans that accomplish their goals. Through Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (TF-CBT), she assist clients in exploring relationships among thoughts, feelings, and behaviors to aid in discovering dysfunctional thought patterns leading to self-destructive behaviors and beliefs. Brenda also uses Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), she supports clients with learning and developing skills for: mindfulness, distress tolerance, interpersonal effectiveness, and emotion regulation with the outcomes of clients moving toward their desired freedom to gain power, be safe, happy, feel like they are loved and belong somewhere living their best life and having fun. She also utilize Acceptance and commitment therapy to help clients with being able to open up to their unpleasant feelings, and how not to overreact to them and take ownership of those feelings.
Outside of my work as a therapist, Brenda enjoys aromatherapeutic, cooking, coloring, painting, reading, watching movies, spending time with her family and traveling to new places.
